Rights and Responsibilities of the Public Information Act
The Texas Public Information Act ("the Act"), found at Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code, gives the public the right to access records of governmental agencies, and an Open Records Decision interpreting the Act has determined that TG is subject to it.
Although certain TG information is available to the public, some exceptions exist. For example, pursuant to Chapter 57 of the Texas Education Code, "student loan borrower information collected, assembled, or maintained by the corporation is confidential and not subject to disclosure under [the Act]."
