More than 400 financial aid administrators attended five recent regional trainings offered by the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and TG.
Held in March and April, these in-person trainings were delivered in Houston, Lubbock, Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Austin, as well as simulcast in Austin. For those unable to attend in person, the presentations and a recording of the Austin event are available online.
Participants attended a range of trainings featuring information on the latest state and federal regulatory changes and other financial aid topics. Attendees found the information timely and highly useful in serving students. Here's what a few attendees had to say about the sessions:
- "I'm excited to go back to campus & share with other staff members!"
- On federal and state update sessions — "They gave the specifics for what we need in our daily jobs to give students accurate and reliable information."
- On prior-prior year discussions — "I like hearing what other schools are going through & learning how to handle issues in a different way."
- On the Income-driven Repayment Plans session — "This is a need to know for all students and it helped me personally as well!" "I can help my college's graduate students be able to start their life with hope."
To review any of the topics that were discussed at the events, and to share the information with staff who were not able to attend, handouts of the presentations are now available for downloading. Be sure to check out the supplemental handouts for the Prior-Prior Year session, including a consolidation of the implementation ideas and challenges gathered during the group discussions at each event. A recording of the THECB simulcast of the Austin event is also available for viewing.
