Active Duty Student Deferment

"I was enrolled in school before being called to active duty and now my active duty has ended."

Active Duty Student Deferment — A 13-month deferment for certain borrowers who have completed their active duty, and were called to active duty at the time of, or within 6 months of attending school at least half time.

Qualifications

You may qualify if your were called or ordered to active duty and both of the following apply:

  • You are a member of the National Guard or Armed Forces Reserve, including a member who was in a retired status when activated.
  • You were enrolled in school at least half-time in a program of study at an eligible school at the time of, or within 6 months prior to being called or ordered to active duty.

How to Apply

  1. Contact your loan holder.
