For several decades, the federal government has offered students multiple loan programs to help them finance their higher education. Some of these loan programs have changed over the years.

If you are seeking a federal loan to pay for college now, be sure to check out information on the Federal Direct Loan Program (FDLP) and Federal Perkins Loan Program at the links to the left. Both of these programs currently offer loans to new borrowers. Best of luck in completing your higher education!

If you already borrowed to pay for college, you may be repaying federal loans made under one or more of these programs. You can obtain information about your federal loans through the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website. Note that you will need your federal Personal Identification Number (PIN) to access the site. If you have forgotten your PIN, you can obtain a new one at www.pin.ed.gov.
