Center for Financial Aid Policy in Community Colleges

Objectives

  1. Identify, review and track all federal and state (with an emphasis on state) financial aid legislation and regulations that impact operations at community colleges. Specifically:
    1. Track proposed changes and amendments to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Feasibility Study as it impacts two-year colleges, and prepare responses as appropriate.
    2. Monitor cohort default rate calculation changes and highlight the impact to community colleges.
    3. Develop and distribute position papers on lender issues
  2. Explore a Web portal to serve as distribution arm of the Center
  3. Develop library of research materials
  4. Assist financial aid professionals in conducting and supporting professional development training, including opportunities for updates and training with a focus on the annual Community College Forum.
  5. Increase involvement and focus on community college activities in the states of Florida and California.
