How can I afford my living expenses without falling into credit card debt? If I make a student loan payment, will I run out of money before my next paycheck? These questions reflect the difficulties many people experience in managing their financial lives. People need a basic level of knowledge to manage these kinds of challenges and reach their financial goals. Increasingly, institutions and organizations (such as schools and community groups) are helping to meet the call for financial literacy training.
Have you identified a need for this kind of training? TG provides extensive financial literacy resources and support. The TG Financial Literacy Program helps teach essential skills for financial success, and assists professionals in developing, implementing, and improving financial literacy initiatives.
The interactive TG Financial Literacy Program provides "ready-to-roll" training materials so college access and success professionals can offer those they serve a high-quality financial literacy training event with minimal effort. The program's mini-modules are designed to be conceptually "sticky," which means that the material is presented in small chunks of memorable content and covers a range of topics — such as managing credit, saving and investing, building spending plans, comparing employee compensation, and meeting college costs. Strategies for gaining and holding attention include frequent guided interaction (about every 90 seconds), a high visuals-to-text ratio, and animated graphics. The mini-modules can be mixed and matched in different combinations.
Each mini-module contains:
If you would like to be able to present these mini-modules, we offer a Train-the-Trainer program, available either in person for a group or online via webinar. The training is module-specific, rather than one session applying to all the mini-modules.
In addition to the Train-the-Trainer series, we regularly schedule other webinars for your personal and professional development. These training events feature experts who share their knowledge and experiences with you. For a list of upcoming financial literacy webinars and to register, visit TG Webinars.
TG Financial Literacy Program mini-modules are also available online through the TG Learning Center. This new learning environment expands the program's reach, making the curriculum available for a broader audience. The TG Learning Center is an anytime, anywhere training resource accessible via myTG℠, a central online portal for accessing TG products and resources. Once you are signed up to use the TG Learning Center, you can establish a learning plan and start directing students to take their financial literacy training online.
TG offers the TG Learning Center at no cost to Texas colleges, and to certain colleges outside of Texas that have borrowers with TG-guaranteed loans. Contact your account executive for more details.
