Phil Diebel appointed to TG board of directors
Round Rock, Texas — Phil Diebel, vice chancellor for finance and vice president for finance and business affairs at the University of North Texas, has been appointed to the TG board of directors by Governor Rick Perry.
"Phil's expertise in educational operations and finance will certainly enhance the strengths of the board of directors," said Sue McMillin, TG president and CEO. "His extensive experience managing the business affairs of a university and his years of service to the higher education community will be of great benefit to TG. We look forward to working with him to help ensure educational opportunities for the families and students of Texas."
As a member of the board, Diebel will provide leadership for one of the nation's largest student loan guarantors, helping to ensure access to higher education for more than 350,000 students and families each year. TG currently guarantees more than $3 billion annually for student and parent borrowers through the Federal Family Education Loan Program. The company also assists students by providing information and guidance throughout the student's educational journey — from planning for college to successfully managing repayment of his or her student loans.
Diebel is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the National Association of State University and Land Grant Colleges, and the Texas International Education Consortium. He is also a former president of the Texas Association of State Senior College & University Business Officers and has served on and/or chaired several committees created by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. In addition to his professional associations, Diebel serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, the Governing Board for North Texas Public Broadcasting (KERA), and the Governing Board of the Denton Regional Medical Center.
