National industry leaders to address TG conference attendees
Presidents of NASFAA, NCHELP, among confirmed program speakers
Round Rock, Texas — Over 630 financial aid professionals representing schools, lenders, servicers, and other financial aid industry partners have already confirmed their attendance for the three-day TG 2006 Annual Conference, TG's premier industry training event that helps financial aid administrators and industry partners maximize their industry knowledge to improve financial aid services for their families and students. Scheduled to begin on Tuesday, April 18, and ending on Thursday, April 20, the conference will be held at the Hilton Austin Hotel in downtown Austin, Texas.
This year's conference promises to set a new standard, given the reputation of a number of speakers representing key national organizations in the financial aid community. Among those slated to address attendees during Thursday's program include David Dunn, acting undersecretary for the U.S. Department of Education and second-in-command to Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings; Dallas Martin, President of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA); Brett Lief, President of the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs (NCHELP); and Elise Nowikowski, managing director of policy for Nelnet. Dunn is scheduled to address attendees during Thursday morning's opening session, and Martin, Lief, and Nowikowski will deliver a federal update, a comprehensive overview of issues being considered and addressed through congressional actions, Department of Education activities, and initiatives of national-level workgroups and committees in financial aid and higher education.
"These special guests help manage some of the leading federal and trade organizations that administer the Federal Family Education Loan Program," said Sue McMillin, TG's president and chief executive officer. "They bring a far-ranging perspective to their work. Given recent developments with the Higher Education Act, we're eagerly anticipating their unique and valuable insights about enhancements and changes these developments will bring to the FFELP, as well as learning more about the program's present and future direction."
Held annually each spring, TG's annual conference provides professional and industry-related training, recognition of accomplishments in the student aid and higher education communities, and networking opportunities. Training sessions are divided into educational tracks based on their target audience or area of interest, including programs specifically for lenders, servicers, and schools. Attendees participate in sessions on a variety of topics, including financial aid management systems, debt management and default aversion, best practices for schools and lenders, customer service, professional development, general industry interest, and information on TG's products, services, and lender processes.
Registration for the event is still available. Registration is $125, but TG waives the fee for all school representatives.
