2009-2010 Interest Rates Adobe Acrobat pdf document

On July 1 of each year, the interest rates for applicable Stafford, SLS, and PLUS loans are subject to change.

Current and upcoming fixed interest rates under the FFELP are listed below.

  • For a subsidized Stafford loan made to an undergraduate student for which the first disbursement is made:

    On or after July 1, 2009, but before July 1, 20105.6%
    On or after July 1, 2010, but before July 1, 20114.5%
    On or after July 1, 2011, but before July 1, 20123.4%
    On or after July 1, 20126.8%

    Note: The interest rate for each loan remains fixed for the life of the loan.

  • An unsubsidized Stafford loan made to an undergraduate student or a Stafford loan made to a graduate student for which the first disbursement is made on or after July 1, 2006, has a fixed interest rate of 6.8% for the life of the loan.
  • A PLUS or Grad PLUS loan that is first disbursed on or after July 1, 2006, has a fixed interest rate of 8.5% for the life of the loan.
