This, That, and the Other...
The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released Working in the 21st Century, a report that offers fascinating statistics about America's current labor force along with projections for the future. To accompany the print version, the Bureau has created an online slideshow of the essential facts presented in the report.
The online presentation includes a series of slides about the demographics of the labor force, the kinds of work people do, working situations, benefits, and other related issues. All the topics either directly or indirectly relate to education. They include information about educational levels of immigrants, the monetary rewards of education, and the widespread need for higher education for most jobs offering above-average earnings.
Each issue offers a topic page (a statement of fact), a chart slide (a graphic display of the statement of fact), a PDF of the graph, and a numbers page (a text-only document that lists the data used to create the graph).
The online slideshow is available at www.bls.gov/opub/ working/home.cfm. You can also obtain a single copy of the print version of the report by sending an message to blsdata_staff@bls.gov or by calling (202) 691-5200. Include your mailing address in your request.
