Deferment Forms Extended
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has extended the expiration date for the FFELP deferment forms. The forms were set to expire June 30, 2002, but have been extended for three months to September 30, 2002.
Total and Permanent Disability Discharge Q&A
The following Q&As are taken from a document published by the National Council of Higher Education Loan Programs entitled "Total & Permanent Disability Outstanding Industry Issues: DCL GEN-02-03." The document was compiled based on industry consensus concerning issues related to the new total and permanent disability discharge procedures effective July 1, 2002.
