This, that, and the other...

A smaller proportion of Hispanics complete college as compared to Whites and African Americans. According to Status and Trends in the Education of Hispanics released recently by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), in 2000, only 10 percent of Hispanics ages 25 to 29 had completed a bachelor’s degree, as compared to 34 percent of Whites and 18 percent of African Americans in the same age group.

According to the report, over 1 in 4 Whites over the age of 25 (28 percent) have at least a bachelor’s degree, while only about 1 in 10 Hispanics (11 percent) and 1 in 6 African Americans (17 percent) do. Access the full report online at the NCES website at http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/
