Recording classroom lectures is nothing new to students or instructors. However, more universities are considering lecture capture technology as a way to record lectures and then offer them as a supplement to class materials. Lecture files could be easily downloaded and watched via smart phone or laptop. Whether providing lectures ahead to students will affect class attendance is a question for some academics. Also, as interest grows in the use of lecture capture tools, there is debate about the cost to universities. Both the purchase and installation of such technology could be significant.
